Some woods come into fashion; others always come back. Walnut belongs to the second family: expressive yet serene grain, a colour that runs from chocolate to honey, and a way of receiving light that no laminate has managed to imitate.
A classic that doesn’t shout
In our projects — from Villa Möet to Agridulce — walnut is almost never the absolute protagonist. It works best as the deep voice of the ensemble: an island, a backlit bookcase, the interior of a walk-in closet. Its warm, timeless presence lets lacquers and stone breathe around it.
How we work it
We select responsibly sourced natural veneer and book-match the grain before pressing. Edges are finished in solid wood so that the arrises — the first thing you touch and the first to suffer — age with dignity. The finish is an open-pore matte varnish: protection without plastic shine.
Three tips if you’re considering walnut
- Pair it with earth tones or deep blues. Contrast with pure whites hardens it; with sands and blues it gains depth.
- Give it warm light. At 2700K the grain lights up; under cold light it fades.
- Don’t saturate. One well-placed walnut piece is worth more than a fully clad room.
